Energy Use and Air Conditioning
We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible while also helping to preserve the environment. To make this possible, we maintain a fair use policy for electricity, including the use of air conditioning.
What Does Normal Usage Mean?
Normal electricity use assumes that:
The air conditioner is used between 9:00 PM and 9:00 AM.
The air conditioner is turned off when you leave the apartment or when rooms are not in use.
Excessive use, such as keeping the air conditioner running all day, is not included in the standard rate.
Tips for Saving Energy
We greatly appreciate your cooperation in helping us save energy:
Use the air conditioner only in rooms you are currently using.
Turn it off when leaving the apartment. This saves energy and avoids unnecessary costs.
Keep windows and doors closed while the air conditioner is on, including bedroom doors. This prevents energy loss and allows for more efficient cooling.
Make use of ceiling fans, if available, to help circulate cool air more efficiently.
Set the air conditioner to a comfortable, energy-efficient temperature, around 24°C (75°F).
Why Is This Important?
Curaçao is a beautiful island with a fragile environment. By using energy responsibly, you help us:
Protect natural resources
Reduce energy emissions, which is vital for our tropical climate
Keep energy costs under control, allowing us to continue offering fair rental prices
What Happens If Energy Use Is Excessive?
If electricity use exceeds the normal amount, additional consumption will be charged at a rate of $0.50 per kWh. We truly appreciate your cooperation in helping us avoid this whenever possible.
